Graduating from the world leading Bartlett School of Architecture at University College London with an award winning diploma and MArch Distinction in Architecture, Ricky went on to become the youngest shareholding Partner at Foster + Partners, one of the world’s leading architectural design practices. During his sixteen year tenure Ricky led large scale, complex and innovative projects from sustainable Super High skyscrapers, pioneering new thinking for airport design and aviation to carbon zero inner city transformations all over the world.
Ricky opened new offices in Hong Kong, Sweden and Qatar, based around the projects he was leading for leading HK developers, the City of Stockholm’s New Slussen Project - the largest construction project in Europe at the time and for the Qatar Airways hub, Hamad International Airport.
small. has advised and led his blue-chip clients on cutting edge projects such as the UK’s first 100% electric vehicle charging stations known as the Electric Forecourt to transforming our aviation sector through integration and adoption of new technologies to enabling new forms of transport including Urban Air Mobility with a new era of infrastructure.
Now heading up Six Miles Across London Group, consisting of a group of UK based Transport Technology companies focusing on Future Mobility; Urban.AV (Autonomous Vehicles), Urban.MASS (Ultra-Light Driverless Mass Transit) and Urban-Air Port (eVTOL landing & charging infrastructure). Ricky is also Chair of the small. Foundation focused on tackling the worlds biggest environmental waste problems - plastic pollution.
Andrea Wu
Co Founder
Andrea Wu is a registered architect with a broad range of experience in Office, Education, Residential, Aviation, Transportation and Masterplanning projects; spanning 18 years and working with the world’s leading practices, including Foster + Partners, Rogers Stirk Harbour + Partners, Grimshaw and Wilkinson Eyre. She studied architecture at the University of Edinburgh, graduating in 1999. During her year out she worked at Peter Eisenman Architects in New York. She continued her studies at the Bartlett School of Architecture graduating in 2002 and went on to gain her RIBA Part 3 from the University of Westminster in 2005.
Andrea is also the Chief Executive Officer of Urban-Air Port Ltd and led the team to the worlds 1st fully operational vertiporm, Air-One in Coventry City Centre, UK in 2022 in partnership with the UK Governments UK Research and Innovation backed Future Flight Challenge & Supernal, a part of Hyundai Motor Group.
Margaret Mistry
Director, the small. foundation
Margaret Mistry is a manager in Equinor’s Future Business team, leading collaborative projects to explore new business models and growth options for Equinor beyond their traditional core business. Margaret joined Equinor’s Global Strategy and Business Development team in 2011 as a communication leader, engaging with stakeholders on the strategic issues of climate change and Equinor’s role in the transition to a lower carbon economy. More recently, she played a key role in formulating the company’s updated strategy.
In the earlier part of her career in Equinor, Margaret managed the operation and logistics of the company’s crude oil and condensate trading activities, leading teams in London, Stamford and Stavanger. Margaret holds a degree in Theology from the University of Oxford.
Paulo Zaide
Director, the small. foundation
Paolo is an architect and academic working across the fields of architecture and curation. He has taught architecture and design since 2003, as Senior Lecturer at the Cass, London Metropolitan University (2003-2009) and Central Saint Martins (2009-2013) and design unit leader at the Bartlett School of Architecture (2008-2019). Prior to his role as educator he worked as a project coordinator for the Royal Institute of British Architects on the international talks and events programme, and professionally for Denton Corker Marshall and Alsop Architects on projects ranging from public and civic buildings to urban master plans.
He holds a PhD in Architectural and Urban Design from the Royal College of Art (2018), and his research and design practice focus on the impact of future trends on the design of the 21st Century City. He has been responsible for co-curating public events and exhibitions in London and Hong Kong around the themes of ecologies in the city, including City Garden Follies in Camden Council (2010-13) and Visions 2050 Hong Kong Architecture and Urbanism Biennale (2015). Central to his practice is the fascination with small-scale / big-impact in the critical design practice, and his work ranges from designing the material artefact to experiences at an architectural scale.
